Consumers who use the Gap credit card to make eligible purchases at the Gap or one of its affiliates will receive reward points that can be redeemed for merchandise reward cards.

The Gap credit card can be used at any Gap Inc. store as well as to shop at any of its four affiliate brand stores including Athleta, Banana Republic, Old Navy and Piperlime. The Gap Credit Card

Applying for the Gap credit card can be done online or in person at any Gap or Gap affiliate store. Approvals for the Gap credit card are based on a standard credit check, with approvals based on the credit score of the customer, their current income and expenses. To apply for a Gap credit card, customers must be residents of the United States, be at least 18 years of age and have no prior record of bankruptcy.

Like many other store credit cards, the Gap credit card is actually issued by an external finance company and not the Gap itself. The Gap credit card is owned by the GE Capital Retail Bank, which currently charges an annual percentage rate or APR of 24.99% on all purchases charged to the account. According to the cardholder agreement, cardholders will not be charged any interest on their account as long as the full balance is paid by the due date every month. The Gap credit card has a 23 day billing cycle, meaning that the monthly due date is at least 23 days following the close of every billing cycle. Cardholders can review their statement online at any time and pay the account through most major banks.

Like most charge accounts, the Gap credit card has a minimum interest charge of $1 per month. There are no transaction fees on the Gap credit card, however, the penalty for making a late payment can be up to $35. This penalty will be applied in addition to any interest that is incurred on the outstanding balance. If a customer consistently makes late payments, GE Capital Retail Bank may close the account and demand that the full amount is paid immediately.

The Gap Credit Card

Gap credit card holders are offered exclusive benefits that include advance notice of sale events, extra discounts on eligible purchases on the account holder’s birthday and email notifications of special promotions. Other Gap credit card perks include special 10% savings deals each Tuesday at the Gap, Piperlime and Old Navy. As an added incentive to encourage customers to apply for a Gap credit card, new applicants who are approved for a card receive an additional 15% off their first purchase using the account. Other signup offers may include bonus reward points that are added to the customer’s account and free promotional product offers.
